What You Need to Know About Solar Installation

Did you know that the US has had over two million solar panel installations? Those numbers sure say a lot about the future of solar: People want it, and it's not going away anytime soon.

If you're wondering about the steps involved in a solar installation and if it's something you want for your home or business, here are the basics of the whole installation process.

We make it simple from start to finish and want you to be updated and informed about the entire installation before you make a move to get solar panels.

We believe in doing the project right and setting expectations correctly from the beginning.

We treat every project as a partnership, and we expect to meet your expectations for 25+ years. You will not get a cheap project from us and be stuck with high true-up bills or a leaky roof.

So, how can you have peace of mind knowing you are getting the best?

Initial Site Visit

A visit to your property is the first step, and it's a way to evaluate your current electrical system. Do you have a panel that needs upgrading? For solar panels to work correctly, you must have an electrical panel that can accept the ampere capacity. The first inspection will ensure this is the case and thoroughly check out your roof for any issues and make sure it's structurally sound.

Permits and Paperwork

There is, of course, a great deal of paperwork involved. Not only are will you be choosing a specific finance option, but you may qualify for incentives and rebates, and that will have a host of paperwork alongside it as well. Our operations team will handle all necessary permits and HOA approval if required. It may seem like a lot to go through. However, once your financing, installation agreement, and incentive paperwork are squared away, we can get going on the permitting process and get you on the installation calendar.

Ordering Equipment

We order the equipment as soon as we assess the right solar panel technology for your home or business. Once we give you all of the information about the best option (and compare and contrast other options you may have questions about), we order the equipment. Solar panels are in high demand, and permits and paperwork have to be submitted and approved. We average about a 31-day timeline, but it all depends on the scope of work and how long it takes for your city and county to approve your project. Understand that it may take up to a few months to go through all the necessary channels for approval.

Solar Panel Installation

You are finally free from the utility and taking back your power! The day your system is installed is what you've been waiting anxiously for! We will re-inspect your roof, make sure it's sound, and then go step by step with wiring, racks, panels, and inverters. Depending on the size of your installation, it can take anywhere from one to three days.

Approval and Interconnection

The city inspection and PG&E approval are the final steps and equally important. There will be an inspection to ensure the installation was done correctly and ensure the PG&E interconnection to the grid takes place safely and smoothly. This may take days or even weeks for final approval and clearance, but you're almost there!

While the process is detailed and takes time to get things going and approved, we will walk you through the entire installation process. We are here to assist you in answering any questions you may have along the way.
