Planned PG&E Blackouts and Your Freedom

Who knew that planned PG&E blackouts would be the future of California residents?

Some are moving toward other power sources, while most are unaware of what’s taking place this summer. Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) has already warned California cities like Calistoga that their service would be cut as many as 15 times this fire season.

When is fire season?

To be clear, California technically has two fire seasons. October until April, then again from June until September. Essentially, that’s the entire year. So, that’s why we’re here to educate you on what’s to come.

What’s really happening here?

Well, it’s important that you’re first aware of the reasoning behind why these PG&E blackouts are being planned. The blackouts are being used to prevent further wildfires from occurring in California. It’s safe to assume that you are more than knowledgeable about fires like Camp Fire that have consumed mass amounts of land and lives in California over the last year. And how it has left our hearts and minds weary of the future of the golden state.

Six of the 10 most destructive wildfires in California history have come in the last 2 years.

The bankrupt PG&E, who recently announced a plan to pay off its liability from wildfires, admitted to the windy weather last fire season damaging a transmission line as the probable cause of the deadliest and most destructive California wildfire in history, Camp Fire. Which is also considered to be the deadliest wildfire in the United States since 1918.

By cutting power service throughout the state, these PG&E blackouts will be sending millions of California residents into darkness, and most aren’t ready. And while their plan to prevent further wildfires this fire season may seem feasible to a certain extent; Californians are left with the fear of what’s to come when they're left powerless for days at a time.

How does solar power play into all of this?

Simple. By no longer being attached to the traditional power grid, you aren’t under the clutches of the inevitable PG&E blackouts. Solar power is an alternative to traditional power sources that will save you money, positively contribute to the environment, and help you become forever free from relying on power companies that have the control to dictate when and why you’re left powerless.

Solar energy is your way to protect yourself and your family from living in the constant flux of a turbulent future at the hands of any and all power companies. The outcome of these PG&E blackouts isn’t clear, but it might be in your best interest to prepare yourself for an uncertain future and execute on how best to protect your home, safety, and sanity with solar energy.
